The LEGO Group and Sesame Workshop are working together to help little ones understand the importance of nature through creative projects.
Build the Change for Little Ones combines The LEGO Group’s social impact program, Build the Change, with Sesame Workshop’s beloved characters and education-based play model. Families can visit lego.com to discover resources such as videos, activity guides, and inspiration cards that focus on everyday animals and their needs.

Each video features Sesame Street characters, an animal made of LEGO bricks, and information about the animal’s habitat, favorite foods, how it helps us, and more. The first short showcases a bat just in time for Halloween, while the next two showcase butterflies and worms.
Families simply follow three steps: watch the video, create the creature’s habitat from LEGO bricks and materials around the house (such as cardboard, tape, pens, paper, and other recycled items), then discuss the creation with others. Kids can rely on what they learned from the video to build a home filled with features that help the animal thrive.
These activities will help kids, especially kids ages 4-6, flex their creative muscles while instilling a care for the environment. Littles will develop a sense of care and responsibility for the world around them as they build a pretend home for the bugs they see frequently around their own homes. The resources — and familiar faces like the Cookie Monster, Elmo, and Abby Cadabby — will encourage families to use their creativity to nurture the natural beings around them.
Educators and caregivers can supplement the brick-building fun and short films with printable inspiration cards. Each card has an image of a potential construction for the animal’s food source, water source, and home. The back of the cards features photos of the real animal, a blurb about its habitat, and tips on what to include when making brick versions of its home.
Lauren von Stackelberg, VP and Head of Social Responsibility at the LEGO Group, mentions that, “Children look after what they love, and we want to help them fall in love with nature. Through play, something as simple as building a habitat can turn curiosity into care, and care into action. Together with Sesame Workshop, we’re helping children connect with nature and feel empowered to protect it.”
“For generations, families have trusted Sesame Street to help children explore the world with curiosity, kindness, and joy,” adds Samantha Kennedy, VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Sesame Workshop. “Through engaging stories and beloved characters, we’re helping children discover that their actions, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in caring for nature.”
Families can find the videos, activities, and inspiration cards at lego.com. Additional videos will be available to stream on the Sesame Street YouTube channel.
