After months of acquisitions and live event appearances across the U.S., it’s officially official: The Nacelle Co. has opened its toy division.
The studio behind Netflix’s The Toys That Made Us and the multiplatform A Toy Store Near You has hired former Hasbro and Toy Biz designer and artist David Vonner to lead the new division.
“A lot of what we do at Nacelle is pop culture and toy-centric, so it seemed like a leap into the toy developing and manufacturing industry was an obvious opportunity we wanted to explore and that we believe we can have fun in,” says Nacelle Co. CEO Brian Volk-Weiss.
Over the past year, The Nacelle Co. has accelerated its acquisition strategy to build a portfolio of classic brands that can be reinvented for new audiences and nostalgia fans alike. Power Lords, Robo Force, and The Great Garloo are joined by properties from the Marx Toys brand in providing a foundation for toys and other consumer products spanning collectibles, soft goods, publishing, physical media, and more.
Nacelle also struck licensing deals with Funko and Super7 for collectible products and is currently developing a reboot of Silverhawks for TV in collaboration with Super7.
The first wave of action figures based on Robo Force will include Wrecker, Hun-Dred, and Maxx Steele and will be released later this year.
