The incredibly successful Mattel card game UNO is expanding with UNO Flex.
UNO Flex has similar rules to regular UNO, but incorporates new Flex Cards that let players change the color or action of a card. For example, the “flex” option on a Draw 4 card will allow the card user to pick which player they’d like to have Draw 4, rather than just it being the next player in turn order.
UNO, designed by Merle Robbins in 1971, was originally inspired by the card game Crazy Eights and features some similarities in rules. UNO was quite well-received and has seen a number of different remixes under Mattel, which acquired UNO’s parent company, International Games, in 1992.
Mattel has released UNO Attack, a game of UNO that blasts cards at players; UNO All Wild, which features a deck made entirely of Wild cards; and UNO Party designed for larger groups to play. These are just three of the many variations of UNO the company has put out. UNO Flex is now the most recent release in this growing list.
