The Care Bears are entering The Sandbox, a decentralized blockchain virtual gaming world.

Cloudco Entertainment and Animoca Brands inked a new deal that allows players to interact with Care Bears and explore a virtual Care-A-Lot within The Sandbox metaverse. Players can also purchase Care Bears-themed in-game content for use in their own game worlds.

“We look forward to bringing the Care Bears into a new gaming universe and creating a new generation of family entertainment experiences,” says Sean Gorman, president of Cloudco Entertainment. “Working with The Sandbox team to build an authentic Care-a-Lot in the metaverse will allow Care Bears fans to interact with the world and each other in a fun and imaginative virtual theme park setting.”

In The Sandbox, players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences using blockchain cryptocurrency. The Sandbox maintains more than 50 partnerships with brands including Atari, CryptoKitties, and Shaun the Sheep.

Earlier this year, the relaunched Care Bears toy line from Basic Fun! began hitting retail to a warm response with reports of sold-out shipments.
