Flat River Group continues its expansion with another acquisition.
The distributor of toys, games, and other consumer products revealed plans to grow its gaming business with the acquisition of Greater Than Games, a St. Louis-based tabletop game publisher, design house, and consolidator.
“We are deeply connected to the board game industry as it is one of our strongest vendor categories,” says Flat River Group President Matt Stahlin. “Partnering with Greater Than Games is a win-win scenario for both our companies. Greater Than Games has been phenomenal to work with as a vendor and we are excited to take our partnership to the next level.”
Over the past two years, Flat River Group — which also serves as a full-service provider of warehousing and fulfillment for a variety of e-commerce retailers — has grown with the acquisitions of Impressions Game Distribution Services and Optimum Fulfillment. This fall, the company expanded its purchasing team.
Since 2011, Greater Than Games has also grown through mergers and acquisitions. The publisher of Sentinels of the Multiverse, Sprit Island, and Medium merged with Dice Hate Me Games in 2015 and acquired the publishing rights for Cheapass Games in 2019.
“I have been interested in working more closely with Flat River Group for several years, and I’m extremely excited to be joining forces with them starting today,” says Paul Bender, president, Greater Than Games. “I believe that this partnership will let us develop and produce even more games of the high quality for which we strive, and I’m really looking forward to working more on all of our upcoming projects.”
