The blaster aisle is getting a powerful upgrade.
Gel Blaster LLC — the company behind the popular backyard blasters that fire eco-friendly, water-based “Gellets” — teamed up with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and his TMT (The Money Team) lifestyle brand for a limited edition release. The Gel Blaster Surge Mayweather Edition features a gold design curated by Mayweather himself to represent his championship belts and 50-0 boxing record. The 10,000 included Gellets are diamond mirroring for a luxury finish.
“At Gel Blaster we consider ‘lifestyle’ as the intersection where sports, art, and toys collide and that is exactly where this collectible lives,” says Gel Blaster Founder Colin Guinn. “It was exciting to connect with Floyd Mayweather to bring his passion for design to life through this product.”
Like the standard Gel Blaster Surge, the Mayweather edition fires more than eight water-based Gellets per second at a range of up to 150-feet per second. Gellets are similar to Orbeez in that they’re made of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP), an all-natural, non-toxic, starch-based material. Gellets burst on impact and immediately begin to evaporate leaving no stains, residue, or mess. The blaster comes with a USB-C charging cable to power its internal battery for up to 4-5 hours of blasting action.
“After seeing the impact that the pandemic had on our youth, I wanted to create something that would get the kids back outside and having fun,” says Mayweather. “This is a product for kids, teens, and adults. This is perfect to get the kids off the computer and video games just in time for summer.”
The Mayweather Edition is available now through the official Gel Blaster store. Gel Blaster products are available at a growing number of retailers, including independent toy stores and hobby shops, in addition to major retailers such as Amazon and Target.
Mayweather is set to return to the ring on June 6 for an exhibition bout against controversial YouTuber Logan Paul.
