The LEGO Group recently celebrated MAR10 Day on March 10, and with it announced a new LEGO set, the first featuring the character Dry Bowser.

MAR10 Day is a day centered around Nintendo’s Mario. The brand got plenty of attention from a variety of licensing partners, and LEGO was no exception. The company announced its upcoming Dry Bowser set and released behind-the-scenes content, including an interview with senior Designer Carl Merriam discussing the development of the Mighty Bowser set that was released last year.

“At the LEGO Group, we celebrate the Super Mario universe every day, but we’re delighted to do something extra special to mark MAR10 Day. We’re so excited to reveal the LEGO Super Mario Dry Bowser Castle Battle Expansion Set,” says Didier Agani, Senior Interactive Play Designer on LEGO Super Mario. “Set in an iconic Super Mario location, fans are tasked to find the secret entrance (just watch out for the Magmaargh!), defeat the Bone Piranha Plant and Bone Goomba, use the crane to rescue the Purple Toad, then quickly grab the key. What lays behind the door is secret – you’ll have to wait and see what’s revealed!”

The Dry Bowser Castle Battle Expansion Set allows for interaction with existing Mario LEGO sets, with LEGO Mario, LEGO Luigi, and LEGO Peach figures all able to explore and react to the castle’s components. The castle itself comes with a Purple Toad in need of rescue, Dry Bowser and other enemies, and a number of buildable features.

The new set will be available starting Aug. 1 in LEGO stores and online, retailing for $109.99. LEGO has also teased future Super Mario sets, with a brick-built Donkey Kong coming this summer.
