Mattel has partnered with Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures to launch a limited-edition Hot Wheels replica of the Formula 1 car featured in the upcoming summer blockbuster F1 The Movie.
Driven by Brad Pitt’s character in the film, this racecar features the fictional Apex Grand Prix (APXGP) team’s black and gold livery and his character’s No. 7. The 1:64 scale die-cast car brings the movie magic to collectors’ shelves.
This collaboration builds on the success of Mattel’s multi-year licensing partnership with Formula 1 (F1), which has seen sold-out products and highly anticipated pre-order launches. The new release is expected to resonate with collectors, film enthusiasts, and F1 fans alike.
Matching the car that Sonny Hayes (Pitt) drives in the movie, the Hot Wheels car also features Hayes’ helmet displayed inside the vehicle and includes three sets of interchangeable Pirelli tires, a tire storage rack, and a special Kar Keepers clamshell case.
“Our previous Formula 1 product launches were incredibly well received by racing fans and Hot Wheels collectors, and now we can share a piece of the collection with film lovers around the world,” says Roberto Stanichi, executive vice president, Hot Wheels & Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel. “The APXGP die-cast allows Hot Wheels to connect with a new audience of moviegoers who now have the opportunity to own a 1:64 scale piece of cinematic and racing history.”
To coincide with the film’s international release June 25 and North American release June 27, the 1:64 scale die-cast will be available for pre-order on MattelCreations.com starting June 24 for $25.
