Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been a hot topic in the toy space over the past few years. In collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Imagination Gaming is launching a board game called Ape-Opoly, in which players can experience the highs and lows of what it’s like to be an NFT investor.
For those who may not be familiar, Bored Ape Yacht Club is a private online platform that hosts the popular Bored Ape NFTs. Bored Ape is a collection of currently 10,000 unique, digital artworks of apes. The owner of each Bored Ape NFT holds the rights to the intellectual property of the character and has access to connect with high-profile owners of other apes.
Now, Ape-Opoly is bringing Bored Apes to the physical world. In the fast-paced game, players simulate the experience by racing to mint and license 22 Bored Ape NFTs to expand their collection while trying to avoid rug pulls, gas fees, and bankruptcy. The game helps teach players who are new to cryptocurrency and NFTs about the medium of exchange and some of the terms used in the industry.
Those who purchase the board game will also be entered for a chance to win an exclusive Bored Ape NFT. The winner will be notified next year and the NFT will be airdropped into their wallet.Â
The game is designed for kids ages 8 and up and is now available for preorder on ape-opoly.com for $50, with an expected shipping date in October.Â
