A new season of Nature is on the way, and it’s shaping up to be a wild adventure. For the natural history series’ 45th season, PBS is partnering with Sesame Workshop, BBC Studios, and more to bring fans face-to-face with the world’s flora and fauna.

“We are honored to collaborate with Sesame Workshop, BBC, and organizations like the Jane Goodall Institute on what we believe are some of the most special episodes in Nature’s history,” said Fred Kaufman, executive producer for Nature. “These partnerships reflect a shared commitment to use storytelling to inspire curiosity, empathy, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Between Elmo and Sir David Attenborough, our hosts span nearly a century in age — yet together they remind us that a sense of wonder about our planet belongs to everyone.”

The season kicks off with “Sesame Street and the Great Elephant Adventure.” In this episode, Elmo, Abby, and Nina adopt a baby elephant online and travel to The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya to meet her and her keepers. Along the way, the characters embark on their first-ever safari, exploring the African bush, discovering new animal friends, and learning more about the importance of kindness and conservation. The episode will premiere Oct. 14 on PBS and PBS Kids.

The following two episodes trace the incredible story of Dr. Jane Goodall and her research on chimpanzees. Produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit, the program features never-before-seen archival footage and new interviews with the scientists behind the study. Other upcoming episodes include documentaries on the American Amazon, tigers, pangolins, and wolverines, as well as “Wild London with David Attenborough,” produced by Passion Planet, which analyzes how urban wildlife has adapted to thrive in the bustling city.

Season 45 of Nature will begin airing on PBS on Oct. 14, with new episodes each Wednesday. The series will also be available to stream on all PBS platforms, including pbs.org and the PBS App, with select episodes available on the Nature YouTube channel.
