Mattel has officially met its match. The company is serving up a new Barbie Signature doll celebrating tennis titan, entrepreneur, and 39-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams.
Arriving just in time for International Day of the Girl, the collectible officially welcomes Williams to Mattel’s Team Barbie, a lineup of powerful athletes and role models who inspire fans to embrace their confidence and pursue their passions. Celebrating one of her most memorable victories, the doll honors Williams as a sports star, entrepreneur, and all-around game-changer both on and off the court.
The doll throws it back to the 2005 Australian Open, where Williams claimed her seventh Grand Slam singles title. She sports the same green-and-white look Williams wore on the court, complete with a cutout top, white skirt, matching sweatband, socks, and sneakers. Fans can display her on the included stand or pose her with a racket and ball for an action-packed addition to their collection.
“Growing up, I didn’t see many girls who looked like me being told there was no limit to who they could become,” says Williams. “I want every girl who plays with this doll to see possibility — not just in me, but in herself. She can dream big, work hard, change direction, break barriers, and become anything she chooses. That’s what makes having my own Barbie so meaningful to me.”
This release marks Williams’ second time teaming with Barbie, following a one-of-a-kind Role Model doll unveiled earlier this year as part of Barbie’s International Women’s Day campaign. For this go-round, Mattel is upping its game with a Barbie Dream Gap Project donation to Mrs. Rina’s House of Blessings, a nonprofit close to Williams’ heart, to support programs for kids and families in Martin County, Florida.
Fans can score the Serena Williams Barbie Signature doll for $45 online at most major retailers and in-store at Target. To learn more, visit mattelcreations.com.
