Sprout’s Original Series, The Chica Show, to Debut on NBC Kids

The Chica Show, Sprout’s newest original series, will join the NBC Kids Saturday morning lineup on February 9. The Chica Show made its television debut on 24-hour preschool television channel Sprout on November 24. With its debut on NBC Kids, the show will double its reach to 115 million homes nationwide.

NBC Kids, programmed by Sprout and featuring shows such as Noodle and Doodle, Pajanimals, and LazyTown, launched on July 7 and is presently ranked No. 1 among the broadcast kids blocks in households, kids ages 2 to 5 and women 18 to 49. The three-hour Saturday morning block was designed specifically to address the developmental needs of preschool-aged children and features educational series that promote active, healthy lifestyles.

The Chica Show is a mix of live action and animation that follows the imaginative adventures of Chica the Chicken and her cast of friends (including Stitches, an animated character voiced by Mario Lopez) as they explore all the costumes and accessories in the Costume Coop. Chica helps her mom and dad in the Costume Coop, and when it closes, she and her friends magically transform into animated characters and set off on adventures that offer teachable moments for preschoolers.

To celebrate the debut, Sprout is hosting an online sweepstakes where the grand prize winner will win a walk-on role on season two of The Chica Show. In addition, three weekly prizes will be awarded that include a Chica plush toy. Contestants can enter the sweepstakes though Facebook by “liking” Sprout or via a mobile-optimized sweeps page. All entrants will receive a link to bonus content found at SproutOnline.com.
