Disguise — the costumes and seasonal division of Jakks Pacific — inked a deal with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to create a new range of costumes and accessories inspired by the hit series Cobra Kai.
Under the new deal, Disguise will design, market, manufacture, and distribute Cobra Kai costumes and accessories that will debut first to market exclusively at Walmart this Halloween season.
“The rise of Cobra Kai has been so fun to watch, beginning with its Karate Kid roots, and Disguise is ecstatic to be working with Sony Pictures Consumer Products on a new global costume range to support the massively successful show,” says Disguise President and General Manager Tara Hefter. “We anticipate that there will be many karate dojo couples and group costumes planned for Halloween 2021 and beyond, as the iconic Cobra Kai outfits are both fun and comfortable to wear, and will be sure to be a hit with fans of all ages.”
Disguise plans to expand its line of Cobra Kai costumes to other retailers next year. The fourth season of Cobra Kai debuts this December on Netflix.
In the past few months, Disguise has announced multiple expansions and renewals of its licenses, paving the way for the company to continue to grow domestically and abroad. This year, the company inked deals to create costumes and accessories for Ghostbusters, G.I. Joe, Bluey, CoComelon, the Universal Brand Development portfolio, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, PAW Patrol: The Movie, Nintendo’s Kirby, and Moonbug’s Blippi, in addition to a partnership with Funko to produce a line of Pop! Masks.
