American Girl announces Daisy Davenport as its 2027 Girl of the Year, introducing a new character and collection as the brand celebrates its 40th anniversary. From Madison, Wisconsin, Daisy is the first American Girl character from the state and heads to Camp Gowonagin, the same summer camp attended by Historical Character Molly McIntire.
Daisy’s summer takes an unexpected turn when her best friend is unable to attend camp. As she navigates homesickness, new friendships, a fear of the dark, and challenges with her cabin-mates, Daisy learns to step outside her comfort zone and discovers that being a great teammate is about more than being the star player.

“Daisy’s story reflects the enduring spirit of American Girl while bringing a fresh perspective that feels relevant to girls today,” shares Pamela Velarde, Vice President and Head of American Girl. “Her story is a wonderful way to celebrate where American Girl has been and the next chapter.”
The 2027 Girl of the Year collection includes an 18-inch Daisy Davenport doll with green eyes and long auburn-red hair with bangs. The doll wears a sporty purple T-shirt, dark blue pleated denim skort, purple tennis shoes, and striped socks.
The collection is centered around Daisy’s Camp Gowonagin adventures, including the Daisy Davenport Camp Cabin. The cabin sleeps two dolls and includes bunk beds with pillows, blankets, and sleeping pads, an outdoor vanity with a sink and working mirror, a Camp Gowonagin flag, and more.
Additional products include a soccer set with a uniform and net, pieces inspired by Camp Gowonagin’s team activities, and camp-themed accessories. A PJ set, s’mores kit, and guitar add to Daisy’s campfire and cozy-night play.
Daisy’s story is also told through Meet Daisy Davenport, a full-length novel written by bestselling author Megan Wagner Lloyd.
American Girl collaborated with experts and advisors during the development of Daisy’s story and collection, including Laurie McMurray, a former co-director of the Adventure Program at Camp Daggett; Jackie Glascock, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Cure SMA; and Sarah Bellish of Cure SMA’s Policy and Advocacy team, who brought personal experience attending summer camp for children with disabilities to the project.
Daisy’s story previewed this summer with Girl Scouts at the Girl Scouts Unite event in Washington, D.C. Daisy’s experience is similar to generations of Girl Scouts who explore the outdoors at more than 300 Girl Scout camps nationwide and participate in programs like Girl Scouts Love State Parks and Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors; America Girl is an official supporter of Girl Scouts of the USA.

The Mattel Imagine YouTube channel will feature a Daisy Davenport animated music video, stop-motion series, and digital shorts.
