Hasbro has opened the doors to a new Wizards of the Coast studio in downtown Montréal, giving the company more room to build out its digital games business and the future of Dungeons & Dragons.
Wizards of the Coast Studios will bring together teams working across game development and other parts of the organization. Hasbro says the new hub will focus on Dungeons & Dragons content while supporting a broader slate of digital titles.
“Montréal is where my own career in games began, so opening the doors of this studio means a great deal to me personally, and it means even more for what it represents for the future,” said Dan Ayoub, Senior Vice President, Head of Dungeons & Dragons and Head of Wizards of the Coast Canada, Hasbro. “This studio will grow to be the largest concentration of video game talent at Hasbro, built on one of the world’s deepest game development ecosystems.”
Wizards has been active in the region since acquiring Invoke Studios in 2019. This latest expansion is expected to create hundreds of jobs in Montréal’s gaming sector.
The 35,518-square-foot space includes a dedicated gaming lounge and is expected to house approximately 200 employees by 2028.
Montréal International and Investissement Québec International supported the project.
Hasbro is currently setting up its new global headquarters in Boston, with the Wizards of the Coast facility in the Seattle area now serving as the company’s West Coast hub.
