The LEGO Group just broke ground on another expansion to its headquarters in Billund, Denmark

The new building will bring together 1,900 employees, including engineers and quality assurers, from across seven locations. The space will include new offices, laboratories, test facilities, tool shops, and molding areas.

“Our employees can look forward to a playful and creative working environment that fosters collaboration, creativity and innovation,” says Carsten Rasmussen, chief operating officer of The LEGO Group. “This will be the perfect environment for our teams to continue to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow for many years to come.”

There will also be a Sustainability Experience & Playroom open for kids to learn about sustainability and a park that will be open to the public.

Sustainability plays an important role in the development of the new building. The LEGO Group’s goal is to have the building be LEED Platinum-certified, the highest ranking for green buildings.

“Today, we are one step closer to opening another state-of-the-art campus in Billund with focus on sustainability, technology and an inspiring and playful workplace for our employees,” Rasmussen says. “We are investing significantly in our headquarters these years, and I’m excited that we are also able to contribute to the development of Billund.”

The building is scheduled for completion in 2025.
